AVG Remote Access Shield

Hi Luke,

We are sorry to hear this.

We will help you to resolve the issue.

Are you getting any error message when you try to connect the #2 computer with the #3rd one?

Did you try to establish the connection after disabling the AVG?

Do check the version of the programs in all the computers.

Keep us posted.

Hello Bobby,

We will check and help you to resolve it. Could you please share us the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Create-screenshot) of block message which you received from AVG?

Hi,

I use remote desktop on Windows 10 to connect between 3 of my machines remotely which are all running Windows 10 build 19042.630. I'm finding an inconsistent problem in that:

a) machine #1 can connect to #2 and #3; but
b) machine #2 can connect to #1 but unable to #3; and
c) machine #3 can connect to #1 and #2.

I have Internet Security across 3 of my machines that I access remotely. All are on 20.9.3152 (build 20.9.5758.611) and all have the following settings:

Internet Connection Sharing mode ENABLED
Allow Windows File and printer sharing ENABLED
Allow remote desktop connections to this computer ENABLED
Network profiles PRIVATE
ALL features have been activated ie Computer, Web & Email, Hacker Attacks etc

If I disable Remote Access Shield on computer #3, the other two will be able to connect no problems. But if I don't, on the PCs that are attempting to connect will have an error when trying to connect:

Because of a protocol error detected at the clien (code 0x1104), this session will be disconnected.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling on #3 AVG Internet Security; have reset to the default settings then applied the above settings; and have tried to find answers in the forums but nothing.

Any suggestions other than disabling Remote Access Shield?

Hi Santhosh,

'Are you getting any error message when you try to connect the #2 computer with the #3rd one?'

I'm unable to connect from #2 to #3 with the error message: "Because of a protocol error detected at the clien (code 0x1104), this session will be disconnected."

'Did you try to establish the connection after disabling the AVG?'

I am able to connect to #3 if I disable AVG. I am also able to connect to #3 if I disable Remote Access Shield.

'Do check the version of the programs in all the computers.'

The AVG Internet Security versions for all three computers is 20.9.3152 (build 20.9.5758.611).

Hi Santhosh,

'Are you getting any error message when you try to connect the #2 computer with the #3rd one?'

I cannot connect to the #3 from #2. It gives me "Because of a protocol error detected at the client (code 0x1104), this session will be disconnected."

'Did you try to establish the connection after disabling the AVG?'

If I disable AVG completely, YES, it works. If I disable part of AVG which is the Remote Access Shield then it will ALSO work.

'Do check the version of the programs in all the computers.'

I've already checked and confirmed all three versions of AVG are running the same build 20.9.3152 (build 20.9.5758.611).

I am grateful that you are trying to help solve the problem but the questions you have asked I have already clearly stated in my opening post.

Hey Guys,

I found the bug…

My Issues:

AVG Internet Security blocking allowed, legit LAN connections in remote access shield

Flagged as - SMB: Brute Force Attempt

Disable "Enable Samba protection" in Remote Access Shield to Fix it, it's classifying SMB as Samba…

Let's get on the ball AVG, this is an unacceptable bug!!!

Hi Rakshith,

'Do you get a pop up from the AVG other than the error message when connecting #3 from #2?'

No. AVG does not show me any pop ups to provide a reason why it's blocked an incoming connection. The only error message is from RDP in Windows 10 after I try to connect.

'And try adding the IP address of all machines in the Remote Access Settings in each computer.
AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> Remote Access >> Add (at the bottom)'

After doing this, it worked. My concern is that the other PCs don't need this setting and are still able to connect? Weird.
