I think you misunderstand my problem. My PC has a Solid State Disk drive. Each memory cell can only be written to for a maximum number of times before the memory cells stop working. To prolong the life of the SSD drive, internally the data written to it is evenly spread across the memory cells to even out the write cycles on the disk. If AVG performs regular defragmentation this WILL shorten the life of the Solid State Disk drive. The data on these drives is therefore intentionally fragmented to achieve an even number of write cycles across the cells, and since the read and write times are measured in nanoseconds (and not milliseconds like mechanical disk drives are) fragmentation is irrelevant. Therefore I need to turn off AVG's defragmentation.
How do I turn OFF defragmentation?
