Please accept my apologies with regards to the AVG software not living up to your expectations. You can do scheduled scans and see the scanning history in the latest version. Please refer this webpage AVG Antivirus: Scan Options on how to schedule the scan. If the PC is affected with virus, AVG will notify you immediately so need not worry about it. Regarding the 3rd step scan, AVG will run the performance scan. If you wish you can ignore to purchase AVG PC TuneUp or ignore that after completing the scan.
To get right of popup messages, please open AVG Internet Security > Menu > settings > On the right side, click the drop-down for Popup and uncheck the option "Show popup for other AVG Products".
To generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"
To view the scan report, please follow the path
" C: ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\report"

I understand your concern. Please be informed that, if you have older version installed, with in few days, this program will get auto updated to the latest version. You will not have any problem if you install latest version of AVG in your computer. Previous problem might have occurred due to an incorrect update. Reinstalling latest version will fix this issue.
It was the new version that was malfunctioning and required me to uninstall and reinstall. I dislike many things about the new version: I can't schedule scans. I can't see scanning history. The app almost always indicates the last scan as "never", even when I just did a manual scan. When I initiate a scan manually it has 3 steps to click through, but the 3rd step is always just an attempt to get me to buy another AVG product, and it doesn't give me the option of saying "don't ask again", but continues to include it in the 3-step scan. The app is constantly popping up ads to sell me something. AVG has become like spam on my computer and I'm really sick of it. I liked the old version. It ran in the background and never iinterrupted my work, I could controls scans and other settings and could look at history to see what, if any, viruses were found. I see the newer version as a step backward and not an improvement. When my current subscription runs out, I will be looking for a different virus protection package.
