Well, I just found a "rar" file I downloaded on 6/5/2013 and set it up on the USB drive. It worked without a hitch! I don't know what it is with the "zip" file but the "rar" sure works!
I copied the files from my working CD to the USB drive. When I tried to boot from it, it gave me the exact same results "no configuration file found". I'm at a loss! I have also tried to install to the USB using the iso file for the CD and the program came back saying that the iso file was not a true iso file and wouldn't install it! That same program created a WIN-10 install disk for me!
Hello Jim,
We are sorry for the delay in responding. If the file system used in the USB drive is FAT,NTFS… , we recommend formatting to FAT32 .Were you able to successfully boot from CD? Thank you.
Just tried a new USB Drive (16GB) with the same results!

What is the "configuration file" it is looking for and where can I get it? Also, why isn't the program finding it and installing it?
Thanks

I install AVG Rescue on a USB drive. When I try to boot from the USB, I get a warning that says "No configuration File" and linux doesn't boot. Any ideas how I can get a "configuration File" so that AVG Rescue works?

Jim, did download the AVG Rescue CD file from this link: http://www.avg.com/download and copy it to USB Drive as a image file?
Did you follow the instructions mentioned in this guide: http://www.avg.com/226386 ?
Yes, I followed those instructions! At "http://www.avg.com/download", there is NO file labeled "AVG Rescue CD" to download! Where do I download it? Is it an iso file or the complete image of the CD that I am to copy to my USB? Back when the file was a "rar" file, I had no problems! The "zip" file hasn't worked for me on 3 different computers - 2 with WIN-10 (and WIN-7 before upgrading to WIN-10) and 1 with WIN-Vista. Essentially 5 different Operating Systems!
