AVG returning me to desktop

Hello Jasper,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Are you using the free, trial or paid version of AVG Protection program?
Please try the repair of AVG Protection as mentioned in this article: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY and check whether the issue persists.

Try running the application from this website, focus which tracks what currently has focus. Just leave it open, and after the issue happens go check what it says for that time in the window. I am actually facing the same issue, and at least for me, the offending application is avguix.exe

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64, and here is the AVG info from the AVG About page:
Build Number: 1.162.2.62416
AVG Network: Not connected

AVG Antivirus Free version: 17.2.3419.0
AVG Framework version: 1.172.2.61689
AVG Setup version: 1.172.2.61624

If you need any additional info, please let me know and I will try my best to help provide what is needed.

Hi, since updating AVG antivirus last week it keeps returning me to the desktop while gaming or watching a video( every 15 minutes maybe), which is starting to be pretty frustrating.
I hope you can help me with this.
Greetings

Allright, i reinstalled AVG and messed arround in registry editor and all seems to be fine right now.
Thanks for your replies guys and good luck Shon with your problem.

There are no messages in the PC. If I am doing anything, suddenly focus is stolen, but nothing pops up or anything. This is especially bad in a full screen game where it steals focus and then either it minimizes the game or I can only get focus back if I click on the screen.

I checked the Event Viewer, but I don't see any events during the times when avguix.exe is stealing focus.

Shon,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Please try to disable AVG and check for the issue. Please use this article to disable AVG http://avgread.me/1GnMD3N .
Thank you!

So I disabled AVG and yet the issue still happened. I did find that when I right clicked on the AVG icon in the system tray, the focus logging program did log it as avguix.exe, same for the general window for AVG. So the AVG system tray stuff and initial AVG UI (pictured below) is what is causing the issue.
