Hi,
I have been using the paid for version of .AVG for years. I paid to update again recently. You used to be able to ask AVG questions direct, but for the life of me I can't find that option. That makes the paid for version little better than the free version. Can you still question AVG direct?
I have quite a lot of hard drive space to check. I set AVG to run from 7pm on a Monday evening and leave it to run over night. It used to finish about 1am. For some reason the last two times it has run very slowly making the PC unusable. It is set at the fastest setting but at 11.am this morning it was still less than half way through scanning and hadn't even fished the first hard drive. That's after 16 hours. There are four more drives to go. When it is running the PC is useless as it locks up. Even hitting the cancel scan option took 20 minutes to work. I bought AVG to help, not to be the the sole reason for my PC. What has changed and do I need to get rid of it and go somewhere else. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Alan. The quick response was very much appreciated. Any suggestions as to why AVG has ground to a halt? The health of the drive is good my software tells me.

Hi Balasubramanian,
It is a paid for version Following Alan's link above I raised a question directly with support. A chat followed and the advice was to remove AVG completely and re-install. I have chosen to do a repair for now. The version which I had updated each year was somewhat old and I hope the repair which installed a newer version will have done what's necessary. Thank you for your quick response.
You are most welcome, Quintin.
We can answer to your question but for that we need some information.
Could you please provide the name of the AVG program installed on your PC?
Is it free, trial or paid version?
