AVG said that I needed to fix a problem on my C: drive

We apologize for the inconvenience. We suggest you to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds and then the computer will restart. During the restart, please keep tapping the "Space Bar" key or "Enter key" and that should skip this AVG scan during startup. I opened AVG and it had a fix it now so I said ok and  it asked if I wanted a quick analysis of the C drive or a indepth analysis so I selected the analysis with the most indepth fix.  it said it needed to shutdown and restart.  Now my computer says it is scanning and repairing drive (C):  11% complete and is hung there.  I called DELL but they cannot connect to my computer to fix it because I cannot get my computer online can you help me.
