AVG says I am unprotected and kills my internet connection

A few times now I've lost my internet connection and when this happens I check the AVG icon in the taskbar and it has a cross on it saying I am unprotected. To get my internet to work again I have to right click on this icon then untick "Protection is on" to turn it off, and then turn it back on which leads to my internet working again.

I have reinstalled and the issue persists.

Hello Stephen,
You've reached the AVG community support forum.
I am sorry to hear that, you are losing internet connection. Please make sure to check for any conflicting Antiviruses on your computer. If, you find any conflicting antivirus, please make sure to uninstall the application and check, if you are facing the same issue. Incase, if there are no conflicting antiviruses. I would request, you to follow the below instructions :

  • Open AVG Internet Security.
  • Click the Web & Email.
  • Click Open above Enhanced Firewall.
  • Select the Networks tab.
  • Click Show settings next to the current network which you are connected with.
  • Change it to I trust this network.
Please make sure to apply this settings on your AVG Firewall and check, if there is a loss of internet connection. if you need anything else at all, feel free to message us  at any time. I’d be happy to help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your reponse. The issue just happened again and I checked the settings as per your instructions and all 3 networks I am connected to are Trusted. Note there are 3 networks because I have 2 internet connections and then a VPN that binds them together into one bigger connection. Any further ideas? Thanks
