Hi, I have AVG Internet Security (Full 1 computer) which I pay for and expires July 2017
I have a full computer scan set daily but yesterday the scan got to 1%
objects scanned 313
threats found 0
currently scanning rootkits
current object C/WINDOWS\System32\drivers\FTMGR.SYS
The scan got stuck there for 3 hours. The stop and pause buttons didn't do anything so I had to shut the computer down.
On booting today the scan is still as above and once again the pause and stop buttons don't work. Somehow I have managed to get a 2nd scan running and this one is stuck also got to 1%
objects scanned 348
Threats found 0
currently scanning rootkits
current object C/WINDOWS\System32\drivers\FTMGR.SYS
and again the pause and stop buttons do nothing.
These 2 scans have now been running for a number of hours with no change.
Can you help please?
Kind Regards
Carol Clarke

I actually also had exactly the same problem as Carol has described, I mean to the letter, but eventually to get out of the scan I had to use Task Manager to stop the scan, I then manually un-installed AVG and then re-installed (after a couple of reboots) and then experienced the problems described in my original posts) It was a good learning experience, but should not have happened in the first place
Many thanks for your help, I followed your instruction and all is working well and it's scanning normally now
Kind Regards
Carol
