AVG scan - possible Trojan

Hello George,
We are sorry for the delay in responding. I would like to keep you informed that it is usually a quicker process of checking the files and adding it to the virus definition of AVG program and should have been done by this time. I suggest you to remove AVG traces using remover tool( http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe ). Please restart to complete the uninstalling process. After running AVG Remover, you may need to manually uninstall any remaining AVG applications and also 'search' for a folder "AVG Remover"(usually in 'C' drive) and please delete it manually. And then I request you to install AVG Antivirus Free (http://www.avg.com/us-en/download.prd-afh-free ). After successfully installing AVG, please check if AVG still detects 'Dit.exe' as a 'threat' and let us know the status. Thank you.

Please  click this link http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and run the AVG Remover tool.
1. Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
2. After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your computer.
3. After the restart,  manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of My computer.
To reinstall please follow the article http://avgclick.me/InstallFree .
Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance.
Thank you.

Typically, how long should it be before I get a response to the file submission?

Hello George,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
As we understand you have submitted the Virus sample to AVG Virus lab, is that right? If so, we kindly request you to please wait for the response email from our lab. Once the test completes they will contact you via email.
Your patience is much appreciated.
Thank you.

I had an old XP machine running an old AVG version which I hadn't used in a while. I recently turned it on and it updated the AVG to Zen 1.31.1.48846.

This then identified 'Dit.exe' ( c:\Windows\Dit.exe ) as a possible trojan and put it in the vault. As far as I'm aware, this file has been on the PC since I had it, it came from Medion, and is used to control the SD USB etc acrd reader on the front of the PC.

Previous scans with the older AVG found nothing, and scans with Malwarebytes found nothing in the past.

I sent the file for analysis, but how do I find out the reult of the analysis? i.e. is it really a trojan that the others didn't find, or can I restore it?

Further info - Dit - dit.exe - Program Information
and dit.exe Windows process - What is it?

I know files can get infected, but I feel this is a false positive.
But basically - How will I find out if its OK or not from AVG?

Thanks

George,
Thanks for returning and posting.
Please feel free to get back to us for any issues with AVG.
Thank you.

How do I submit it via your link if its in my virus vault. There is no option to submit via a different method other than the interal virus vault submit method.
cant you check to see if its arrived or not?

thanks.

Hello George,

If there is any need of additional information our team would be sending email, if not you won't be receiving any email from them.
Thank you.

Then why does it ask fir additional information AND an email address?
Why do you need an email address if you are not going to reply?

George.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We are not sure about that. Your installation might get corrupted. That is the reason why we asked you to please uninstall and reinstall your AVG product in our previous post.
Have you submitted the sample for analysis using the link which we have provided?
Thank you.

PS - I shouold add, that I have run a full scan and AVG found nothing else maicious on the PC.

George,
We do understand your concern.
We have escalated this to our concerned team and when we get a suggestion, will post it here.
Your patience is much appreciated.

Sample finally submitted.
I can also add MSE to the list of AV programs that also says its clean.

Thanks
