AVG Secure Browser as NOT default

Hi Steve,

We understand your concern.

We will help you to sort out the issue.

During the installation of the AVG program, you will get an option to install and make AVG Secure Browser as a default one. You have to uncheck the option to prevent this.

If you wish to change your default browser, please refer the following article  https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=Use-AVG-Secure-Browser&supportType=home

Let us know, if you need further help.

Avinash, it worked and Windows is back to using Edge.  Thank you so much for helping me to solve this problem. The AVG browser should have been designed to ask for my permission before designating itself as the Default. But now if it happens again, I know the solution thanks to you.

I turned on my laptop to discover my AVG Secure Browser had designated itself as my default browser.  That is not my choice.  Under settings I find only a setting to designate it as the default browser.  "Clicking" on this setting does not "toggle" it Off.  I find no setting control to disable this choice.  How do I change this setting back?

Dear Santhosh,

Thank you for responding.  I installed the browser years ago and it has never been my default browser. I woke this morning to discover it had made itself my default browser. The article you recommended only tells me how to designate the browser as my default browser during installation. It fails to tell me how to change that designation. There are obviously 2 choices here - Yes, I want it as my Default, or No, I do not want it as my Default.  How do I change it to No?

Please let us know the operating system of your computer in which you're looking to change the default browser, Steve.

Steve, we're glad to know that you were able to change the default browser.
It is not possible for AVG secure browser to assign itself as a default browser.
The check box to make it as a default browser would have been selected during the installation process.
This could have happened in your case.
Feel free to contact us if you need any assistance with AVG.
Have a great day!

I'm using Windows 10 and it has the new Edge browser. I also have Google Chrome and Firefox installed but Edge has been my default browser.

Steve, please follow the instructions in this article https://bit.ly/383PaBD to change the default web browser to Microsoft Edge.
