Hello Dave.
We're glad to clarify this for you.
The paid version of AVG Secure Browser (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=avg-secure-browser-faq) called 'AVG Secure Browser Pro' comes with an in-built VPN feature, which only masks the online activity of AVG Secure Browser Pro.
Whereas, AVG Secure VPN masks the online activity of your entire device.
For further information regarding AVG Secure VPN, refer to this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=avg-secure-vpn-faq).
Since you already have an active subscription of AVG Secure VPN, we'd recommend that you ignore the crossed out VPN icon in your AVG Secure Browser.

Cheers,
