I can understand your frustration.
Please uninstall the AVG Secure VPN by following the below steps :
1. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
2. Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
3. Right-click AVG Secure VPN in the list of programs and select Uninstall to open the AVG uninstallation wizard.
4. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the uninstallation.
5. Restart your PC.

Once rebooted, please remove AVG Secure VPN folder from C Drive>Program Files(x86)>AVG

I am very stressed since the day I purchased the AVG Secure VPN. It worked for a few day and always prompted me to active the system but on some occasion the system can be on. Today 2 Dec 17 the logo icon disappeared from my desktop short cut but instead the temp appeared prompting me to sign on for the 2 yrs protection. What went wrong ?

You can now again download the AVG Secure VPN from the VPN tile in your AVG Dashboard.
Install Secure VPN by following these steps:

1. Double-click the AVG icon on your desktop to open AVG management console (formerly known as AVG Zen).
2. Click the Secure VPN tile to install the program.
3. Click Try it free.
4. Click Yes to confirm installation. Restart your PC, if asked.
5. Click the OFF slider so that it changes to ON. Secure VPN drivers are installed.

Once installed, please check if you are facing the same issue again.
