Avg secure vpn switches off wifi on Laptop

Hari,

Many thanks, problem solved.

To help others that have the same problem, this is the results of you advice…

Disabling AVG Internet Security made absolutely no difference at all, problem remained.

Re-enabled AVG Internet Security

Changed the AVG Secure VPN settings as you advised…
Open the AVG Secure VPN> Menu> Settings>  Network security > uncheck the "Exclude private networks". On the left pane, click Experimental > change the VPN protocol to Mimic.

Result, problem solved, I can now access websites in the USA that block access from the UK.

Seems to be a frequent topic, with no actual solutions.
Please read carefully before proffering an answer, the symptoms are very specific.

Laptop : HP Folio 9480m, running Windows 10 Professional, build 10.0.19044

Secure VPN functions CORRECTLY when the laptop is connected to the BT Smart hub 2 via a Cat 6 CABLE, the problem ONLY occurs when to trying to establish a VPN connection via WIFI.

For what its worth, I've tried other HP computers (all running Windows 10 professional) and they all suffer the same problem.  I've tried re-installing Windows, I've tried with this computer running Windows 7, and 8.1, still the same problem.  I've tried re-installing the VPN software, the problem remains.  I've tried selecting a different location, and still the same problem.  Please also note, there is NO other VPN software running on the computer.

So the problem is simple - as soon as Secure VPN is switched on when the computer is connected to the Hub via WIFI, the WIFI on the computer is physically disabled on the computer, and this causes the VPN to give the error message that Secure "VPN TAP doesn't have a valid IP configuration" - well of course it doesn't, as its switched the WIFI off !!!

Before suggesting an answer, please go back to the beginning of my post and read and understand that AVG Secure VPN works correctly via a CAT 6 cable.

So the real question is, what is it in the AVG Secure VPN application that switches off the WIFI connection as soon as the VPN is enabled.
