I must have missed checking "Enable AVG Self Protection" when AVG IS 2015 was installed. So I don't know if it was turned on or not at that time. I did the repair to AVG IS 2015 (which was actually installed since 2015 was first issued) and "Enable AVG Self Protection" still could not be enabled. I then did the upgrade to AVG IS 2016.and still could not be enabled. Did a repair to IS 2016 and still could not be enabled.

Then I ran system diagnostic tests and it indicates the HDD is failing. So until I replace the HDD in the laptop, I won't be trying again. There definitely is a HDD problem by other indications also. Some days are like this, yah they are!

Thank you Alan for the help.

When trying to "Enable AVG Self Protection", an AVG Internet Security message appears, "An error occurred when saving the configuration: The request is not supported."  With the link "Go online to learn more about this issue."

Nothing found about the issue. What could be the problem?

Recently renewed and updated AVG IS to 2015. Ran AVG Complete Computer Scan and Malwarebytes anti-malware scan with no threats found.
