AVG settings Documents folder to read only

We are using AVG Internet Security, it seems to have done a major update last week. Now the Read Only property on the Documents folder is set. When I unset it, something simply re-sets it. I have tried switching the Ransomware protection off, but to no avail. When I try to edit a spreadsheet it says that an unknown process has it locked.
