AVG Shields Not Working

So after repairing, and uninstalling to reinstall the product for AVG Internet Security, I'm still incapable of actually activating security. Every time I click the option to turn on shields and activate everything it goes back to being red and offline. And yes I've uninstalled every other security program and it still doesn't work. With this also not being the free subscription but a paid one I'd at least expect it to work properly. Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time.
