AVG Shredder stopped working

I followed all the steps. I even deleted McAfee even though it was disabled. It didn't work. I am still getting a grey box when I try to shred regardless if I go directing into the shredder from AVG or from the right click options in File Explorer. User-added image

When I highlight the file(s) to be shredded and choose Shred in menu, only a grey window opens and nothing happens… Why? Is there an AVG Download option to restore this function?

Maybe this is an issue with the file or location of the file which you're trying to delete.
May I know whether any of your other files are getting deleted?

I had the same issue and it started on the 24th or 25th like the OP. Worked earlier in the day then stopped. Tried the fix listed here and that did not help. I deleted everything installed from AVG in Windows Programs and Features. When it gave the option I checked to remove all backup and log files. Rebooted the work station and logged into the AVG site and reinstalled the programs. Now it is working. Repair doesn't seem to be removing whatever was broken, hope this helps others.
