AVG slowing down the loading of images onto my emails

HI,
I have found recently that when I click and drag images  from an internal file into my outlook emails, they are taking a long time to load. If I have more than 5 images attached, it can take up to 30 seconds for the email to go into the outbox. I switched the AVG email shield off, and everything worked smoothly, no problems. So my question is, why is this happening, and how can I stop it? the images are all small, so that is not the issue. all generally less than one MB. any ideas?

Thanks very much for your response. I have done what you said, and it has improved a bit, I think, but it is still much slower than it used to be. I checked on my wife’s laptop as well, and hers is slow with the same issue, draging images onto email. We both use the same AVG.
If there is anything else you can suggest to help, that would be great.
