AVG starting in safe mode

AVG program won't prompt for safe mode restart. Please hard reboot your computer by clicking the power button and check with the program.

AVG wanted me to start in safe mode. Asked me if I wanted to start in safe mode, I click on yes. Computer went into restart and screen went blank and has stayed blank. I did not restart in safe mode and now I can not get to start in any mode.
