Jim, thank you for your patience. I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to send us diagnostic information from your computer. This information will allow us to analyze the situation and provide you with a solution.
Hello Jim,
I appreciate your patience in this matter.
There seem to be leftovers from updates/upgrades as AVG is not creating them by default - only when it's needed to complete some task.
It is safer to delete those files.
Keep us informed about the status.
Hi Karthikeyan;
Please let me be clear, these are not processes, they are Scheduled Tasks in that folder on my Control Panel. I've attached a shot to show what I mean. The AVG EUpdate Task appeared last September while I was still on AVG Free 2016. The Antivirus Emergency Update Task appeared several months ago when my system updated to AVG Free 2017. My system appears to be running fine and the computer has been restarted many times since the two tasks have been there. I'm just wondering what they are and why my wife's laptop which has the same O/S and same version of AVG Free does not have them?
Jim
Hi Avinash;
So, what should I do with these two tasks. Would it be safe to delete them?
Jim
Hello Avinash;
I've made no changes in AVG update schedule or scan schedule.
Jim
I'm running AVG Free Ver. 17.5.3022 on a machine running WinXP SP3. There are two AVG Tasks in the Scheduled Tasks folder in Control Panel that I don't understand. One is called "Antivirus Emergency Update" and targets C:\Program Files\AVG\Antivirus\AvEmUpdate.exe. The other is called "AVG EUpdate Task" and targets C;\Program Files\AVG\Setup\avgsetupx.exe/eu.
What do these tasks do? Also, my wife's laptop is running the same version of AVG Free on the same O/S as my machine, yet she does not have either of these tasks in her Scheduled Tasks folder. Why is that?
Jim
You are correct.
Hello Jim,
Thank you for the getting back to us with the screenshot.
I have forwarded the case to senior technical team for getting suggestion.
Please keep checking the post to know about the status.
Your patience is much appreciated.
Hello Jim,
Did you made any changes in AVG update schedule or scan schedule?
Hello Jim,
I can understand your concern. Please be informed at this time, the AVG automatic update must have got initiated in your computer and that is why this process is running in your computer. Please restart your computer and check if everything works fine normally in your computer.
Jim,
I apologize for the delay in response. Those tasks must be leftovers from updates/upgrades as AVG is not creating them by default - only when it's needed to complete some task.
