Hello Martha,
We will certainly check and help you.
May I know in which AVG program you are getting the incorrect location message?
If you manually select a location in the AVG Secure VPN, your IP address will be the server's IP address.
But if you choose an optimal location, which is a server with the best connectivity.
The Location will keep changing to the best connectivity so does your virtual IP address.
Websites often attempt to identify the location of visitors using their IP address, a process called IP geolocation. IP geolocation uses a database that pairs IP address ranges and geographical information. The information in this database can be inaccurate for several reasons:
1, AVG does its best to provide accurate information to the IP geolocation databases, but the database providers may take extra time to update the location.
2, The website may be using an outdated version of the geolocation database.
3, In certain locations, we rent dedicated servers to ensure AVG Secure VPN and the IP geolocation databases are updated by the server provider on AVG's behalf. Because AVG is a Czech company, these providers may indicate the location as the Czech Republic.
We request you to change to the nearby location from AVG Secure VPN and check if it shows the correct location from a nearby server.
Thank you.
Recently AVG popped up and said I was being spied on by my camera - how I don't know - it is covered by a bull dog clip and always is. Now it is telling me my location Islington is being seen by all when I like about 200 miles away in Huddersfield. Am I bothered. These are just annoying but I don't know how to stop this drivel from AVG. I have a free AVG and am happy with it but not stupid comments like the above and no way to reply to the idiot sending these remarks. Either say something sensible or allow me to query what is being said!!
