Avg tells me i am not protected

This might happen due to an activation problem.

Open AVG program installed on your computer, click on "My AVG->My Subscription". From here remove and re-enter the license number, check if that fix the issue.

Hi there, I too have this problem. It says I am running antivirus free, but I still have a valid licence for Internet security. I have version 18.6.3006 installed. Seems as though there is a common thread here as several people have reported the problem.
