Hi,
I have the same thing but its the virus definitions. Its driving me round the bend.
I have seen it download virus definitions since the problem started. It usually aborts almost immediately (as in your case) and tells me I have the up to date version already but this one completed. Am I actually protected??
You are not alone

Hello Margaret,
We understand that even though you get a message AVG is up to date, it is still prompting to update. Please send us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the error message you receive. We will check the same and assist you further.
Hi Boys and Girls,
now reinstalled and probably OK. I'm running a scan before restarting the computer to make sure it doesn't go AWOL again. Watch this space. Thanks for the help,
JC
PS. The thing with the screenshots was that I just had a 'user defined image' text with no picture. Seems fine now though.
Hi and thanks for any help you can give! I have a licensed AVG Internet Security suite. It tells me I need to download the latest program update. When I do this through the dashboard, it starts the download, then tells me I already have the latest version. When I click ok it comes up with a line that I need to download the latest version. ARRGGHHH. It's a massive circle. I have Windows 10, and I uninstalled McAfee, Spybot and Malwarebytes (and cleaned regedit) but it still won't download the update. Help please!!! Margaret

John,
From the screenshot, I see that you have installed AVG 2015 version of Internet Security. It is not the current one and there the update for 2015 version is not available. So follow the email instructions which has been sent to your email address to get in touch with the remote support. They will help you to install the new updated version with free of cost.
