AVG Trial has expired - but I never had the trial!

I deleted my previous post because I did manage to reinstall and now it appears to be back to it's old self. Programs little check boxes for premium services are getting smaller and buried deeper every day. I must have missed one of these "free trial boxes". Just a truth about software unfortunately. Don't go changing AVG, your still the best in the free antivirus game.

I am now experiencing this frustrating issue too! I tried all the advice given in this thread with no luck! Can anyone help?

I dont feel comforatable sharing my email here.  Still have the issue stated above.  Dell recommended I saw install AVAST.  Then I read that Avast bought AVG.  Maybe a fix soon?

Linda~

On 9th March I ran AVG Clear, restarted the computer and reinstalled AVG Free. This appeared to work correctly. I completed a scan with no threats found. I used my computer as normal, shutting down at the end of the day.

Today (10th March) I am using my computer again. I clicked on the desktop icon for AVG Free and once again I am confronted with the message, "Your Internet Security Trial has expired".

If uninstalling, clearing and reinstalling is now becoming a daily requirement, it will be extremely tiresome! Is there a longer-lasting fix for the problem I am experiencing?

Hi Nathan,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Usually, this trial expiry message will come up only if you use AVG AntiVirus Free after using the trial version of AVG Internet Security. Please, use AVG clear and remover tool ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to remove all the traces of AVG. And then follow the instructions to reinstall AVG AntiVirus Free (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free)

I have used AVG Free for many years. I also bought AVG PC TuneUp last year.

I ran TuneUp last night and deleted a lot of ‘junk’ (I thought) to free up space on my computer.

On start-up this morning, I got a message to say Your Internet Security trial has expired - but I never requested a trial! The only option presented is Buy Now which takes me to a paid-for version of AVG which I do not want. My Apps shows AVG AntiVirus FREE and I have clicked on Modify to update it, but it still opens with the Trial Expired message.

How can I get back to using AVG Free again, please?

Whoa! The AVG Remover tool is showing that I have
AVG PC TuneUp
AVG Web TuneUp

It does not mention AVG Protection (but I have an AVG Antivirus Free icon on my desktop after yesterday's reinstallation!)

What should I do?

Hello AVG gurus,

I am back from a holiday away from my laptop! I have come home to the same problem I was experiencing last month, i.e. AVG Free antivirus is showing "Trial Expired". Running AVG Remover shows that I have AVG PC Tune Up (which I purchased last year) and AVG Web Tune Up (which I do not recall asking for) - it does NOT show AVG Protection.

Per the instructions above I would next run AVG Clear, but I am reluctant to select Unistall Zen and Framework in case this cancels my subscription to AVG Tune Up, which has nearly 3 months to run.

Can you confirm that after running AVG Clear I will still have AVG Tune Up without having to pay again?

Thanks for your reply.

I did as you suggested (although I am 95% certain I did not ask for the trial), restarting my conputer between uninstalling and reinstalling AVG Free.

AVG Free installed and I ran a virus scan. I left my computer for a few minutes with the scan in progress, when I returned to it the "Your Internet Security Trial has Expired" screen was again displayed. This re-appears when I start AVG Free from the desktop icon.

Any further suggestions please?

Hello Keith,

This issue might have caused if you accidently clicked on, "Try free trial of AVG Internet Security".

Once the trial got over, it shows the expiry message.

Please uninstall this expired version of AVG from your computer control panel and click on this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free to reinstall AVG AntiVirus free on your computer.

AVG Gurus,

I supplied the results from running AVG SysInfo and a screenshot of the AVG Free interface displaying the Trial Expired message, as requested, 3 days ago but have heard nothing further.

Is this problem still under investigation, please?

Hello Joshua,

We will work together to sort this out.

Have you uninstalled AVG using the AVG Clear tool?
(AVG remover is different from AVG Clear tool)
If not, click on this link https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe to install the latest version.
NOTE: When you are prompted to restart in safe mode, please click on "NO" and continue to uninstall AVG in normal mode.

I am having the exact same issue.  I cannot get past the "trial of internet security has expired" interface.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times.  I also had DELL working on it to no avail.
I ran both programs the uninstaller and clear neither worked.  Please help!
