AVG Tune up during scanning & repair of C: drive freezes at 12%

OS Win 10 
My second laptop scanning and repairing C: drive for about 4 hours and still is on 12%  It is hard to believe that scanning and repairing of C: drive take so long for 12% only.
Any suggestion what to do?
Before I chose to perform trough scan of C: drive, laptop was running OK, I just wish to possibly make laptop running faster…
Could I stop or perform any action to stop this long scanning&repair, although laptop showing up some activities I am not sure that scanning&repair work at all and will finish/.
