AVG Tune Up Freezing

Hi, I installed Tune Up yesterday to try and speed up my pc and it seemed to install ok.  However when it started to run I got the black screen with the spinning wheel which just seemed to keep spinning.  The dashboard showed as 1% tuned after 12 hours which I didn't think was right.  Can anyone help? Thanks,
