it seems there is a problem with the diskcleaner.exe. when i start it manually it crashes at the same position where the systemcache scan hangs in the tuneup program. i deinstalled tuneup already with the tuneup deinstallation tool. but the problem persists. i know when i installed it few days ago it worked, both systemcache scan in the program and manually via the diskcleaner.exe. and yesterday i got a notification of an tuneup update and for needed restart of the computer. and i think after the update the problem happend.

Hello David,
We apologize for the inconvenience.
We have emailed you the steps for the advanced troubleshooting, please follow the same and fix the issue.
Thank you.

Sorry to know that you are still facing the issue Ken.
Are you using the paid version of AVG PC TuneUp?

It will not complete amd just sits there spinning it's wheels. I run Zone Alarm and Anti-Virus & Spyware. I suppose you'll tell me I can't keep my Zone Alarm? Given the choice of using the Zone Alarm software for protection and yours - Zone Alarm leaves AVG anti-virus in the weeds! So don't bother telling me to get rid of it. Ever since AVG Tune-Up began giving me problems and hanging, your program has been nothing but trouble. If you don't have a full-on FIX for your Tune-Up, return my money for same and I'll gladly shred the bloody thing!

Hello Stephan,
We regret the inconvenience caused. To resolve the issue, did you try reinstalling your AVG PC Tune Up program by following the instructions provided by "Aravind Gnanamurthy" earlier in this thread? Thank you.

Stephen,
We really appreciate your valuable efforts in trying to fix it.
Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted.
Thanks for returning to the Community & posting.

Hello David.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Could you please let us know which version of AVG PC Tuneup are you using? Thank you.

hi. i have now the same problem. the scanning hangs at System Cache & Logs for hours now. it dont complete the scan. when i installed tuneup few days ago it worked. now it dont. yesterday there was an update for tuneup. perhaps after the update and restart of my computer it happend. before the update it worked. tuneup is the newest version 16.32.2.3320. i tried deinstalled and installed again but it didnt work. when i check the progress window of the scan it hangs at steam-redistributables. i scan the steam stuff with an other program and it shows me over 32gb of deletable steam stuff in the game folder of steam.

Could Stephan please tell us how he fixed it? I have tried all of the suggestions and nothing has worked. I would love to fix this problem.

Thanks,

Jerry Woolsey

Thank you.

As I said in my first post this is the full, paid for version.

Crashes 100% of the time when it scans "Steam Redistributables"

I have excluded "Steam Redistributables" from the 1 click settings but there seems to be no way to exclude them from the normal scan!

Version 16.42.2.18804.

Hello Jerry,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We would like to keep you informed that time to clean the system cache & logs usually depends upon your hard disk size. How long is the process stuck? Do you use a paid or free version? Thank you.

Hello

I have solved the problem, so far as works first everything again …
thanks for your help !

greeting stephan

when i start diskcleaner manually, the scanning works until diskcleaner begin to scan the steam-redisttribuatbles the it stops and then diskcleaner crash. when i deinstalled tuneup with tuneup remover and install again the newest version of tunup, i also saw in the tuneup gui that he begin to scan the disc and i saw the hdd led of my computer it began to flash. after few secounds the flashing stops and the scanning hangs after that. but it dont crash. it is the same positon where in the tuneup gui stops scanning and where it crash manually after starting the scan via diskcleaner.exe.

Same problem here. It does not hang, it crashes. "Disk Cleanup has stopped working" when it gets to Steam Redistributables. This is the full, paid version.
