I tried all your suggestions and could see no reference to internet explorer on the processes. Problem still the same and browser cleaner crasshes. When cancelled the whole thing locks up and it is necessary to shut down. Still do not have a solution

I received the latest 2015 update recently.  There is a problem with the browser cleaner. It identifies the problems but then fails to delete them. I have left it running 3 hours but nothing is deleted. I then re downloaded the update in case an error had occurred but no change. I have tried cleaning the browser (Internet explorer) using the Clean up category in the start centre but this didn’t work either. There seems to be a fault. It crashes.
This is what I have done to try and rectify the problem…
I uninstalled the software and rebooted… Then re installed from the AVG website I have done this twice with the same results
Latest down load (3) from the website. I ran the maintenance check which comes up to show potential clients how the system works non stop for 4 days (96 hours) without any success. Today from the clean up centre I have run the ‘clean up windows programmes’ successfully but Windows upgrade backups and backup copies of installation files are both flagged with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle. The Browser cleaner fails to work and crashes. Index dat files are flagged… Browser contains 13135 elements and 22.1MB including dat files. Tried again this morning with the ‘One touch Maintenance’ and the browser had 12 items ( I had gone back to default settings) and cleaner still going after 1 hour,
Can you tell me what is stopping the browser cleaner working???

Thank you for that. I shall keep your suggestion in reserve as for the time being, having got so fed up with the software, I have just uninstalled the 2015 v
ersion and reinstalled the 2014 version which works perfectly.

Hello Anthony. Sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused and I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I would request you to close all the browser windows while performing the browser cleaning action. It might be possible that an instance of your browsing session could run in the background even after closing down all the browser windows. So I would request you to open your task manager, go to "processes" tab and kill any we browser process is running.
