Hello Peter,
This isn't the experience we want you to have. We have tried all the possible troubleshooting steps but it didn't help and that's why we recommended you to contact the local tech.
Yes, recent post was addressed to another AVG user named "Marry ".
Regarding the buy now prompts for other AVG products, many of our users find these offers useful. We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience. Also the frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app or can be even turned off. Follow the below steps to turn off those popup notifications.
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> General -> Personal Privacy -> uncheck "Show offers for other AVG products" and "show offers for third party products".

Hi,
This is my response to an email I received from AVG Tech Support on 20 July 2019 and thought the community would like to read it in case they have had similar problems.
Thanks for your belated response to my initial request for support dating back to January regarding the defrag tool within AVG TuneUp 2017 having developed an error whilst running the program which corrupted my hard disk, but firstly your response is addressed to someone else??
The problem I had occurred back in January 2019 and although I sort assistance from AVG Support at the time I did not receive any response at all and got the impression it was a known fault and was ignored.
The hard disk was totally corrupted and I tried for weeks to try and fix it but without any success. Because of this I had to buy another laptop. Being annoyed at this I had the disk analysed and it would appear that some code conflicted with another being ran at the same time within the program which caused the corruption and clash within the defrag tool within TuneUp. I tried relentlessly for weeks searching for and trying fixes but without any success. The only option was for me to buy a new hard disk and start from the beginning again, not an experience I would want to go through again and needless to say I have lost total confidence in AVG TuneUp and support for that matter.
At the same time when TuneUp is automatically enabled it's constantly working trying to find something wrong and continuously comes up with message windows about something or other. My view it's getting too complex for it’s own good and needs to go back to what you want it to do when you want to run the program.
I’m constantly asked if I want to buy more AVG products and yet I cannot get adequate support for the products I have bought. Also consumers are getting fed up with constant Microsoft, Apple and now Firefox updates so much so you when you switch on your PC it runs all these updates and now AVG checking on your IP address is visible and trackable so buy the VPN plus drivers etc that you can't get to do the work that you switched the PC on to do in the first place so please "Keep It Simple"
Thanks,
Peter
