6-9-2020 1:30pm MST Both my computers stopped letting me access Adobe and Office applications today. When my IT specialist came in, he explained that AVG had moved tuneup from programs files (X86) to a new folder…and yet the debuggers attached to all my program files were not redirected…so we had to fix each registry entry manually… At $275/hr, the downtime was inexcusable… I've uninstalled tuneup and lost trust in AVG. I want a refund to offset this loss of productivity…and will not renew any of AVG's products. I'm also obligated to inform my securities brokerage of this issue (as they required AVG anti-virus software).
Instead of deleting the keys you can just disable the Tune Up Sleep Filter by setting the "UseFilter" DWORD from 1 to 0 in your registry in
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options<name of your blocked .exe file>
Please accept our sincere apologies, Bob.
We've addressed this issue in your original post.
Please keep up the conversation in a single thread for batter assistance.
Thanks.
Now that Steckler is gone, will Ondrej Vlcek make this right? Cost me over $1000 to fix this and loss of uptime…
Each applications link had to be edited… Even if PC tuneup is uninstalled or even made to go back to the previous version…it wouldn't fix the issue. It appears that before this new version of tuneup was sent out, looks like everything went to 64 bit. When this showed up on the main-use machine, the backup came on and automically installed the new tune-up upgrade and made it inoperable…as the tune-up deleted the old link folder.

same problem here, unable to launch any Office products on any of my PCs since last night.
Despite still having a paid subscription for AVG Internet Security & Tune Up, that's it ; I have just finished un-installing this piece of crap software and will re-install my Office suite once again; un-believable; it's not like this could not have been tested; 3+ billion people in the work use the Office suite, this is an easy one to test with new release of an AV !!
Meanwhile, we are without the software tools that are essential to do our work.
Did you just remove the debugger line?
We really appreciate your efforts in trying to help our customers, Ken & Jonathan.
It's unacceptable that a company knows it is creating these problems and does not withdraw its software update.

OK… this what to do
Open regedit, go to HKEY_Local_Machine/software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Image File Execution Options/ From there, look for any keys with sub-keys (has an > next to it) Those keys are causing your issue. Delete the main key and it should be fixed. That folder is only to prevent certain types of access to applications, so no keys are actually necessary in it, but only delete the ones with a sub-key. After that is done, go to the old control panel, open programs and features, right click on your office install and select Change (or modify, in some versions) and do a repair install. That should handle it.
