I did try tech support late last night, but they took far too long about it and I had to terminate the session before I got an answer. I am perfectly capable of doing Level 1 tech support myself, so the advantage of calling support is that they should know the program better than I do. In this case, I was not convinced that this was true.
I have narrowed the problem down much more specifically this morning in about half the time of the support call: System Junk/Program Temp Files/Jump Lists Temp Files. There are two files in this category, and I would like to exclude them from the clean, but there does not appear to be an ignore option at this level. Is there a way to set this permanently, or will I have to disable it each time? Please give me an answer here rather than referring me to support again.
Something on the System Junk menu is resetting the quick access to default area every time I run it, deleting all my recent files and removing everything I have pinned there. This has only been happening for a few weeks. I commented on this in another thread a few hours ago. Tuneup is version 21.1 (Build 2404); Windows is version 20H2 (Build 19042.804).

Hello Gordon,
If you want to set what are all the files need to checked during the maintenance scan, you can set it up in AVG Tuneup settings page.
Open AVG Tuneup - click the Menu - go to settings - Automatic Maintenance, either uncheck to turn off all, or click the down arrow and uncheck the Quick Launch Bar shortcuts.
Also, open AVG Tuneup, then go to Rescue Center, you can undo the Broken link items that have been removed.
Please try the above steps and let us know if its help you.
Please accept our sincere apologies, Gordon.
This isn't the experience we wanted you to have had.

I've had it happen twice now too! Very Irritating. If you open AVG Tuneup, then go to Rescue Center, you can undo the Broken link items that have been removed. And voila, all the quick access links are restored in Windows Explorer. Not to turn that feature off…
