I have been a long time user of avg internet security and avg pc tuneup, so when I saw the avg ultimate package I decided to go with that this year instead of just renewing my subscriptions. If I had known it was going to cause me the headache that it currently has I would have gone with norton instead.
On the pc that it is not working (running windows 8.1, 32-bit) I have uninstalled the previous versions of internet security and pc tuneup, which was a chore itself since pc tuneup didn't want to uninstall. I ended up having to use an uninstall utility from http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities. I searched my computer for any files with avg in them and removed them manually after that.
When I went to install avg ultimate it would install zen fine, then at around 90% updating the antivirus and tuneup programs themselves from zen my computer crashes and I see the message KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Upon rebooting my pc I will continually get this message and am unable to get to my desktop even in safe mode. The only way I can get to my desktop is to load a save point from just before installing avg.
Any thoughts on how I can get avg ultimate installed on my computer?
