Avg ultimate december update

Thank you for your answer.  Unfortunately, it had no effect.  When I turn the computer back on it shows that screen still.  I have tried the reset button too and it just keeps booting into that screen.  I can't get it to go into safe mode or the repair mode.  Any other suggestions?

Avg told me I needed to restart my computer.  I closed all my programs and turned it off.  After a bit, I turned it back on.  It still said I needed to restart, so this time I hit the restart from there.  The screen states that windows is being prepared.  Do not turn off your computer.  I do have the little swirly thing with the do not turn off message.  I have Windows 10, home edition and everything is up to date.   It's been like that now since just before 10 am this morning.  It is now 4:30 pm.  Is this update supposed to take this long?

Well, I would if I could, but I don't get the chance.   How exactly would I do that in Windows 10 when I never get the loading screen?  Somehow the boot loop has to be stopped.

No affect.  Still get; "Getting Windows ready.  Don't turn off your computer".

Hello Barbara,

In this case, we suggest you to wait for few minutes in the window that shows "Windows is loading" and check if it boots into windows after some time. Please let us know if you are having this problem in desktop computer or laptop.

Barbara, the force restart must have bypassed this window. Please try to do a force restart again and check.

Windows won't start it just goes to the screen with message that it's preparing to update, do not turn off.  What should I do?
