AVG Ultimate for Mac won't install - says there is another version of AVG installed

Hi,

I'm having troubles getting AVG Ultimate for Mac installed. It keeps saying that there is another version of AVG installed but there isn't. It's Macbook Pro running Mac OS Sierra. I made sure there is not another version of any AV installed and it still prompts that  AVG is already installed. Please advise.

Hello R O,
I understand the inconvenience caused, let's work together to fix this issue. All software in Mac OS is installed in /Applications, which can be found in the Finder sidebar. Please go to /Applications location and check if you have installed any AVG program on your Mac computer. If not, then please let us know your Mac OS version and also share a screenshot of the error message (Which you receive while AVG installation). You can check the following link to see the instructions about taking the screenshot (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361). You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Best regards,
Alok.

As stated earlier the Mac version is "Sierra". I've already looked in the applications folder. There is no AVG application in there. I also did a system wide search and found nothing about AVG or even any files associated with AVG. I also checked the running processes and there was no AVG processes. The error message says "There is already a version of AVG installed". Any other suggestions?
