AVG Ultimate - I cannot register it?

I've purchased the latest 'AVG Ultimate' as my existing 'AVG Internet Security' has just expired. However, it doesn't matter how many times I try to use the 'activation' code on the card within the box (spent hours so far!!), I cannot get the product to register? I generally get a message 'an error has occurred.' Everything I've added is correct but I cannot get this product to work? I also get a message at times that my activation code is registered on the AVG website but this still doesn't activate my product? Any suggestions please?
