Please download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
1. Open tool
2. User Account control - click "Yes"
3. Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
4. Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5. Click "Uninstall"
6. Click "Restart computer"

AVG seems to be holding my computer hostage. I attempted an uninstall after AVG web protection would not allow me to access some pages that it thought were unsafe, quarantining cache files related to it rather than giving me the option to choose whether or not to proceed or block the perceived threat. This seemed to be a new issue that arose after the latest update, which, for some reason, would not pass 98% completion.
I first tried to uninstall through the control panel on windows 7, but components were still left over and AVGUI ran as if nothing had changed, and the webpages were still being blocked. I then downloaded the removal tool on the AVG site, but after running it, received the same results. I finally tried ioBit's powerful uninstall, but there are still AVG files in Program Files (x86); such as the GUI. avggui.exe attempts to run at startup but fails and I get an error message about reporting it to AVG.
I figured that this wasn't worth the trouble and just reinstalled AVG, but now I have two avgui.exe running and I keep getting that same user message.
I just want to uninstall AVG completely without any of this hassle and I cannot necessarily afford to pay for a subscription or pay for tech support.
