Hello Tedi,
We are really sorry for this issue.
Could you please confirm us whether you have installed AVG Antivirus Free version?
If so, please do uninstall all the AVG traces from your computer using: http://avgread.me/1DEtNP0 and reinstall the AVG Antivirus free version using the below link:
http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe
Once it re-installed, please check with the CPU usage.
If it is still high, please do send us the screenshot of your CPU usage showing AVG high, so that we can check with this issue.
Thank you.
Even your highly qualified indian tech could not fix my problem after about 5 system restarts, install/uninstall/etc., so it is not user induced (I told you I was not a newbie), The tech even admit he/she could not fix my issue in this text exchange, here: http://oi68.tinypic.com/2urmurb.jpg
… What's next? -Remy
Your solution does not work, i did exactly everything you said and I am not a newbie, this simply does not work, installed Antivirus_Free_1817.exe from the link you provided and my PC is still slow as fuck, it was doing fine when the previous version of AVG was installed, so it's absolutly certain that your "update" is the culprit.
I just wasted 3 hours of my life that was meant to chill and relax, instead I had to try to find a fix for the horrible mess that this new AVG update made of my PC, for this reason alone, I choose viruses over your program, pathetic. That is coming from a PAYING customer that has supported your company since 2010, see picture: ( http://oi68.tinypic.com/axb511.jpg ), Not anymore, never again, you just earned yourself a lifelong bad press from me.
While I am at it. what is up with all the AVG related popups I am getting on the desktop of my PC? You do know that paying customers do not expect to get shit peddled at them on their screen…
Shameful display.
I have the same problem as the OP and iv got version of AVG internet security and it auto updated without me asking it and now its uses 100% of my CPU power all the time, my PC is super slooooooow so i had to restore a windows 7 restore point… which worked after a long while. then tryed to stop avg to auto update so that my comp would not get laggy again… but it did auto update even tho i tryed to disable the scheduled auto update… untiked the box, applied, ok'd… still the auto update would be enabled as soon as i closed the window and got back into the scheduled auto update window… here I am, had to create an AVG account at this hour when i was just trying to relax, then writing this to you to say that NO, this issue is NOT fixed… i am a paying customer, not a freeloader, so if you keep this shit up, i am going to stop being a customer once my sub run out, and i wont be the only one if you dont fix this shit up ASAP.
Hello!
I'm with Windows 10 64-bit. Last night I've got AVG update… The pc is slow and the cpu usage is on100% since then… When I open task manager it shows that AVG is taking all my CPU usage… and it shows a lot of 36-bit AVG processes… Now on my desktop there are two Icons AVG protection and AVG. My question is should I uninstall AVG protection (which is clearly the previous version of the program) and how to stop this huge CPU usage?

Hello Remy,
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please be informed that the AVG Internet Security you have purchased is being migrated to the 2017 version. We suggest you to uninstall the AVG Internet Security installed in your computer from control panel and install the latest version of AVG AntiVirus free from this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe. Once the free version of AVG is installed in your computer, please open AVG AntiVirus free->Menu-About->Subscription-Enter your license number.
Please enter your license number and activate the product to paid version of AVG Internet Security and that should fix the issue. If you still have any difficulty, feel free to contact us.
Thank you
