I opened my avg and it told me my definitions are out of date so I tried to update. It looked like it was done so I closed the update window. It still tells me updates are required but the update button is now grayed out and says it was last updated today. I'm trying g to go through control panel to fix the program and it says there is still set up already running. I have force closed through task manager the application and still won't work. I try to Uninstall to reinstall and it also tells me that there is a scan in progress and won't let me continue.

Meanwhile, please try restarting your computer once (if you've not restarted) to check, if it helps.
Restart seems to have fixed it. I also seemed to have some background windows updates that wasn't showing as being available
