Hello Linus,
We apologize to hear about the inconvenience caused. Could you please let us know whether it is a free version or a paid version of AVG you are using? We request you to try to perform a system restore to previous settings as described in this article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17085/windows-8-restore-refresh-reset-pc .
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
At least this is what i assume is going on since the harddrive stops making noise and the LED on the front on my case goes out completely. I'm not a rocket scientist or anything but it seems reasonable to an average guy like me to assume that this is happening because AVG somewhere messed up with my system, since I've never had this problem before updating my AVG Antivirus this morning.
I'm not sure what to do now, i have tried;
1. uninstalling using AVG removal tool, did not solve the issue
2. reinstalling AVG
3. scanning for viruses, computer freezes up before it can complete the process
The only thing i have in mind now is to reinstall windows.
Or is there other things i can do to further investigate the issue?
System specs
Windows10 Pro x64
Asus Z87-a

Thank you.
Between the AVG update and when the freezing started happen i couldnt notice any other changes or updates going on, and removing AVG with the AVG remover tool did not solve the issue.
Linus,
Thank you for trying it out for us. Could you recall if you have made any other changes to your PC like Windows Updates that might have caused the issue? Also was the issue resolved when you uninstalled AVG free using AVG remover tool?
