AVG update messed up my comp--2nd entry

Hello Richard,
I regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. I would request you to repair AVG Internet Security to resolve the issue.
To repair your AVG please follow these instructions:

Go to Start -> Control Panel.
Note: Click Settings first if Control Panel is not available in the Start menu.
Open (Programs) -> Programs and Features, or Add or Remove Programs.
Select AVG Protection or AVG Internet Security in the list of programs.
Click the Change or Change/Remove button.
Select Repair.
Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

My comp is getting a message from AVG software that "Restart Required" is issued continuously. I restart , and it takes 5 restarts to stop getting the message from beginning. That only lasts 10 minutes though, and then it starts giving the restart required again. This started after getting an update to AVG. I held down on/off button per your first email response, but this had no effect.
