TV streams (Netflix, iBBC, Sky, …) are not fully supported by AVG Secure VPN.
Please let me know how did you checked that you are not connected with UK. Could you share the screenshot of it to have better understanding?

The Beeb recognises I'm not in the UK even when I have VPN running. Am I doing something wrong?
