Avg VPN freeze my laptop and cell

Please clarify when (at what instance) the devices freeze with VPN connectivity. Is it during a specific instance such as browsing or random?
Also, let us know whether the issue is with a specific network or irrespective of networks (such as wired, mobile hotspot, etc). 
Meanwhile, please try restarting your devices once (if you've not restarted them earlier) to check if it helps.
