Firstly, kindly refer to this article & add the Google Chrome Remote program to the AVG Exceptions list & check if the issue persists.
Note: Please check under the "Manage scan settings" column of the article.
Secondly, please temporarily disable the individual shields/components of your AVG Internet Security one by one & check which AVG shield/component is causing this issue.

I have AVG Ultimate (Multi-Device), these last few months when trying to use my MacBook to connect to a work PC, Chrome Remote will not connect (previously it was fine), I've narrowed it down to the fact that AVG is stopping it.
I have found info for Windows
“Using the Blocked & Allowed apps settings screen in AVG Internet Security”
but I cannot find the equivalent for Macs.
Any ideas folks?

Hi, thanks for your reply, when I click on the link I get "Sorry, we're currently hard at work improving our Support Center." I also got this when I previously tried to get info. I'll try to temporarily disable the individual shields/components
