AVG Web Shield flags a calculation page while other scanners report it as clean

Hello,

I’m trying to understand whether this is expected behavior from AVG Web Shield or a potential false positive.

A browser-based scrap gold calculator that I frequently use for testing and valuation checks appears to trigger a warning in AVG on one system, while other security tools and browser reputation checks do not report any issues.

The page in question is:

scrapgoldmeltcalc(.)com

A few observations:

  • The site uses HTTPS correctly.

  • No files are downloaded automatically.

  • The page consists primarily of form inputs and JavaScript calculations.

  • VirusTotal and other external checks do not appear to flag the domain.

What I’m trying to determine is:

  • Does AVG Web Shield use additional reputation signals that could temporarily affect a website?

  • Could JavaScript-based calculators trigger a heuristic detection?

  • Is there a way to identify which specific rule or component generated the warning?

I’m not looking to bypass any security protection. I’d simply like to understand why the page is being treated differently by AVG compared to other scanners.

Has anyone encountered a similar situation with calculator-based websites or interactive web applications?
