Hello AVG Community,
I am currently experiencing a persistent issue where my plumbing service website appears to be blocked by AVG’s web protection features, specifically Web Shield, even though the website is legitimate and does not contain any malicious content. Several visitors who use AVG antivirus have reported that when they attempt to access my website, AVG immediately blocks the page and displays a warning message indicating that the site may be unsafe or suspicious. The strange part is that the website itself loads normally for users without AVG installed, and security scans performed using various online website security checkers show no malware, phishing scripts, or suspicious code. Because my website is an important part of my business for customers looking for plumbing services, this blocking behavior is causing confusion and preventing potential clients from accessing information about my services.
The core problem seems to occur when users attempt to open certain pages of the website, particularly the service detail pages where I describe plumbing repairs, installations, and emergency services. Instead of loading the page normally, AVG triggers a blocking notification that prevents the browser from displaying the site. In some cases, users report that the homepage loads successfully but navigating to other pages within the site triggers the block. This inconsistency makes it difficult to determine exactly what part of the website AVG considers suspicious, since the site structure is fairly standard and does not include any unusual scripts or downloads.
I have already checked the website’s hosting environment and confirmed that the server does not contain malware or unauthorized files. The website is built using common web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and it includes a contact form so customers can request plumbing services. The server has a valid SSL certificate and the website loads over HTTPS without any mixed-content warnings. Additionally, I ran malware scans using several website security scanners and they all reported that the site appears clean. Despite these checks, AVG still seems to flag the site for some users, which makes me wonder if something in the page structure or external resources is being incorrectly detected as a threat.
Another detail that may be relevant is that the website uses a few external scripts and resources for things like analytics tracking, map integration for showing the service area, and a contact form system. These scripts come from commonly used services and are loaded through secure connections. However, I am unsure whether one of these external resources might be triggering a false positive detection within AVG Web Shield. Since the website itself does not host these scripts directly, it is difficult for me to determine whether AVG is flagging my domain or one of the external resources used on the pages.
The issue has started to affect customer trust as well, because some visitors assume the warning means the website is unsafe or infected with malware. For a small service business like plumbing, the website plays a critical role in connecting with new customers, so even a small number of blocked visits can negatively impact inquiries and bookings. I would like to ensure that the website is accessible to all users without triggering security warnings, especially when the site has been verified to be safe and legitimate.
I would really appreciate guidance from the AVG community on how to diagnose why AVG Web Shield might be blocking my website and what steps I should take to resolve the issue. Specifically, I am interested in understanding whether this could be a false positive detection, how to identify which element of the website might be triggering the block, and whether there is a way to submit the site for review or reclassification by AVG. My goal is simply to make sure that customers can access my plumbing service website normally without seeing security warnings that prevent them from viewing the site. Sorry for long post!
