Trying to remove AVG Web TuneUp from a computer (Windows 7).  Tried the "uninstall" option from Windows Control Panel several times.  Failed.  Downloaded the AVG Removal tool and tried that several times.  Failed.  What next?

  1. Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
4)Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C:\ drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.
Note : Please use the AVG Remover tool mentioned on the article to uninstall the AVG program more effectively.
If you are still facing any issues please let us know, we are here to help you.
    Thank you.

You are most welcome.
You have done a wonderful job in removing the AVG programs on your computer.
During the AVG remover tool process we have to make sure that we check on all the check boxes of the AVG program that are listed.
The programs that are ticked will only be removed by AVG remover tool.
If you have completely removed all folders of AVG then please go ahead with the AVG installation and it should install successfully.
Please let us know about the status at any time. We work round the clock.

Thanks  Aravindh.  As I said, I did download and try the avg remover tool. It successfully removed the actual antivirus program but left the "web tuneup" untouched. It recognised that it was there and went through the motions of trying to remove it. But when I restarted the computer it was still there. Went through this several times. Eventually I used the search in Windows Explorer to find all files with AVG in their name and deleted them manually. This seems to have done the trick. The remover tool no longer finds any AVG products, and there are none in the program list. I will now try to install AVG pro afresh. Hopefully there will be no conflicts.  Derek
