I just wonder how on earth can a product that should HELP the customer, FORCES him to change the way he works! That is just the opposite: this extension should help ME instead of ME helping AVG!
Has anything been done about this most annoying search engine change?
I removed the extension, because it does more harm than it really helps me.
I have AVG Web TuneUp as extgension, NOT the AVG Secure Search!
I tried this and it is saying that Web Tune Up is the extension controlling the feature. I had set pages before I enabled Tune Up, but now it doesn't go to them because of the extension being active
Hello Phoenix,
Yes, AVG Web Tune Up will change the home page to AVG Secure Search( http://www.avg.com/us-en/web-tuneup ) for more safe and secured browsing. If you wish to temporarily disable the feature, in chrome please click on Settings -> Extensions and then you will find the option to disable the 'AVG Secure Search' feature. Once you disable, you will now find the option to edit the home page. Please follow these instructions and let us know the status. Thank you.
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the home page when AVG Web Tuneup is installed as an addon in Chrome?
I can't stand the Yahoo search engine which is the default setting that AVG forces upon you when you hit the Home button or open a new tab.
Even though in Chrom (Settings>Appearances) there is a link to change the home page URL, when I click it, the pop up shows a field that is greyed out and can't be edited. It's locked in on the AVG/Yahoo URL.
Anyone know of a solution (without the obvious of course, uninstalling AVG Web Tuneup) because I'd like to keep it if I can change the home page, otherwise, I'm uninstalling.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I totally agree @Phoenix Marlow. I really HATE Yahoo! I dont wanna use Yahoo I wanna use Google as a search engine. As Phoenix Marlow points out correctly you cant change the search engine because you guys at AVG have decided that yahoo shall be the search engine. Thats just ridiculous and a bif FAIL! I urge you to fix this emmediately. You must understand that there are people that wanna use google instead of yahoo and you shall not pre decide for us users what search engine we shall use.
And antoher thing is that if you dont use the tune up as in the web page you have a orange msg that tells you not are secured properly and the ring only shows 50% in the Web tune up ring and to get it 100% in the Web Tune up you MUST activate it in the browser. Thats really disturbing and annoying.
IF you not fix this in a short time I will uninstall all the AVG products and I dont really care if I have free for 6 months.
Looking forward to receive a proper answer to this matter from an AVG technician.
Thanks in advance.
Dear AVG,
Pls stop apologizing all the time. That doesn´t make things right. Just do the job required to change search engines so we users can choose to use google instead of yahoo if we like to. If you change that, that will make things right. Less talk, more work. ok?
I tought this was obvious for a corporation that works with safety on the internet that you make your customers to choose what kind of search engines they wanna use. But as it seems right now, you dont. Listen to your customers is what every big corporation should be doing if they wanna keep customers.
Re do it and do it right.
Thank you!
Arco,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
May I know the name of the Browser in which you experiencing this issue?
Thank you.
