AVG WIFI Assistant and establishing a VPN connection

I have AVG WiFi Assistant PRO. Every time I try to establish A VPN connection, I'm asked if I want to allow it, every time I check "allow" yet all that happens is the red button turns green for 1, 2 maybe 4 circles, turns red again and I get the message "VPN connection failed." Help.
