Hello Alan,
I understand your concern. Please be informed that in the latest version of AVG Internet Security we have added new features like "Ransomware Protection, Web Cam protection, Fake Website Protection". We have improved our protection level in the recent update and that is why no additional security software is required nor compatible with this.
We suggest you to uninstall Malwarebyte from your computer and check if AVG comes out of passive mode.
Since the latest update which happened today 20 October I cannot get AVG to come out of passive mode. It keeps on insisting that I delete Malwarebytes which I will not do. I have followed all the instructions to come out of passive mode but every time the laptop reboots AVG is still in passive mode. The two software packages have existed side by side for over a year so why now the problem? Anyone have any ideas?
Hello Michael,
Thank you for providing us the link. We have already tried this steps and it seems to fix the conflict issue between AVG and Malwarebytes.

Alan, For your additional system scanning try using Malwarebytes Free version i.e. Non real-time residential protection.
